Application Area
NORIPHAN® HTR N is a solvent-based, single-component screen printing ink based on a thermoplastic resin with high-temperature resistance.
Films printed with NORIPHAN® HTR N are highly compatible with the IMD/FIM process (In-Mold Decoration/Film Insert Molding).
Forming Capability
Temperature and wash resistance during injection molding
Good and permanent adhesion with injection molding resins (preferably PC)
IMD/FIM Technology Printing Equipment
*Tunnel Oven with final active cooling:
*Box Oven, adjustable up to 90°C (195°F)
*Racks for individually placing printed sheets
Different suppliers of IMD/FIM parts may use different production equipment, requiring individual adjustments of process parameters. As a result, the production parameters for the same IMD/FIM parts at different suppliers may vary greatly to achieve the best results for each supplier.
Films
PC Film: Makrofol®
PC Mix Film: Bayfol®
Surface
Glossy. The gloss level may vary depending on the substrate structure.
Color Tones
A version with light solvents can be requested with the xxx/444 designation. For increased temperature resistance, versions with the xxx/050 designation can also be requested. To prevent clogging in the mold, special tones based on NORIPHAN® PCI N can be used.
Effect Pigment Colors
Metallic, color-changing, pearlescent, fluorescent, and other colors are available upon request.
Note: The adhesion (peel strength) of silver and effect inks is lower compared to basic colors. The back molding of special effect colors can alter the direction of the pigment particles.
Mixed Color Tones
Transparent mixed colors with a small proportion of NORIPHAN® HTR N 945 White may show coverage issues. This issue can be resolved by adding NORIPHAN® HTR N 943 Mixing White. However, NORIPHAN® HTR N 943 should be tested according to printing conditions (thinner type, thinner ratio, print speed, etc.).
Halftone Inks
IMD/FIM halftone inks are available with the NORIPHAN® PCI N designation.
Mesh Number
Polyester mesh: 77-48 /cm to 150-31 threads/cm (195-48 threads/inch to 380-31 threads/inch)
Stainless steel mesh can be used for special requirements.
Recommended mesh numbers for standard silver:
NORIPHAN® HTR N 770 – 120-34 threads/cm (305-34 threads/inch) or wider
NORIPHAN® HTR N 782 – 77-48 threads/cm (195-48 threads/inch) or wider
NORIPHAN® HTR N 790 – 100-40 threads/cm (255-40 threads/inch) or wider
Stencil
Solvent-resistant emulsions should be used. For excellent results during long production times, Pröll Diazo-UV-Polymer Emulsion Norikop 10 HQ is used.
Auxiliary Products
All of the auxiliary products listed below are halogen-free (HF).
Thinner (Reducer):
Thinner F 013 (fast)
Thinner M 201 (medium)
Thinner S 403 (slow)
Retarder Pastes:
NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/002
NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/005 (fast)
NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/006 (medium)
NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/007 (slow)
Auxiliary products can be mixed with each other in the desired proportions.
For large printing areas, only Thinner F 013 and Thinner M 201 should be used. Recommended thinner addition ratio: 15%-20%.
To print fine details, Thinner S 403 can be used alone or in combination with retarder pastes (NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/005, 097/006, 097/007).
The following ratios are recommended:
NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/008: Ready-to-use Retarder Paste, a mixture of Thinner M 201 and Retarder Paste NORIPHAN® HTR N 097/007 (mixing ratio 1:1).
Matting Agent
Levelling Paste
Elastifier
Antistatic
Foam Cutter
Stencil and Equipment Cleaning
Note: NORIPHAN® HTR N 959 color tone stains the printing mesh. Therefore, it is recommended to use a separate mesh for this color tone.
